In 2012 this Polar Bear was the highlight of my day as I toured the city of Berlin. Her name is Tonja. Last year she had a baby cub named Hertha. What picture is your favourite? If you were this Polar Bear what would you be thinking or feeling? If you were a baby polar bear what would you like to play with?? For more facts about Polar bears you can visit: Kids National Geographic or the World Wildlife Foundation.

Writing about our joys and our frustrations can be a great way to process the many emotions we feel when our world is so different. These thoughts can be recorded personally or they can be shared.
One place kids can share their writing is The Kids Write. It's a website specifically for kids to share their of life under lockdown. It's open to all ages and any where in the world because this is global shared experience. Even if writing isn't going to be shared. Reading about the thoughts and experiences of others is a great way to know we are in this together. Pictures are really are worth 1000 words. Such amazing stories can come from just a single image. Images create emotions and remind us of our own stories. For beginning language learners pictures are an easy prompt towards discovering new vocabulary. In Picture Writing Prompts every month I upload some of my own pictures in hopes of inspiring your writing. But there is also a website called Once Upon a Picture. Read on for writing prompts associated with this picture from Once Upon a Picture.
Writing Prompts can come from anywhere and anything. Take this quarantine art challenge for example. The Getty Museum put a challenge out for people to try and recreate famous works of art while they can't come see the art in person. Some people take it seriously and try to look just like the original. Others like making it a joke and use toilet paper roles or cleaning supplies to recreate parts of the picture. If you could recreate any work of art, what would you choose and why? How would you do it? Would you do a serious copy or a silly one? Here is an article from Modern Met with more examples.
You can also Search #gettymuseumchallenge on Instagram or Twitter. Last week I provided a PDF to make a small book for Mom for Mother's day. But this isn't an ordinary Dollhouse! It has electricity, running water and a real library with real books. Watch the video below for some more interesting facts about this unique Doll House. Pieces of History and Miniature items are great Writing Prompts
